2nd year of MBA starts at WSB
Fresh out of my internship at Stoughton Trailers I’ve begun my second and final year at the Wisconsin School of Business MBA program. I’ll have to post a followup on my experience at Stoughton later because this year is getting real busy, real fast.
I’m only taking four clases but I have a TA position to work on now. I actually like being a TA a lot. It doesn’t really feel like that long since my undergrad but standing up in front of my students, realizing that I’m a decade their senior, wondering why they don’t immediately understand these topics like an MBA drives home the fact to me that I’ve really come a long way since then. I also have come to understand the moving feeling of wanting to help when you see a student really trying, coming to office hours, and making an effort to learn. I’m probably not the best TA right now but even after only three weeks (three sections each Friday), I’ve learned that I need to cut back on the strictness and focus more on guiding their understanding. Well, I have just as much to learn about being an good TA as they do about operations management.
Right now though I have to get ready for the National Black MBA career fair in Indianapolis, ID; the school has a bus charted to leave tomorrow. I haven’t been to one of these big career fairs yet but I feel like I can hold my own amongst these other candidates. There are about eight positions I’m interested in and have one potential interview set up already which I think is a balanced load for two days. I don’t really know how it will go, though, so the whole thing will be a bit of an adventure.
Lots to do.
