So far so good
So far the internship is going fantastic. I feel like I’m contributing to the company using the skills I’ve acquired not only from the MBA coursework but also from my porfessional career as well. Tomorrow, for example, I’ll be working out a kanban system for paint and chemicals. Also, from my inventory analysis I’ve identified several items of concern and will be following up with the buyers on the causes and possible solutions for each one. I’ve already produced an Excel/VBA system for the Quality Assurance team to track root causes for defects as well as an Excel/VBA system for use in the purchasing department for commodities hedging.
Even with all these projects , though, I sometimes feel like I can be doing more. I often need to seek the assistance of others and don’t want to push too hard because I know they’re busy with their normal work, and here I am just adding to it. Hopefully I can demonstrate how my work can not only benefit the company but also make those individuals jobs easier on them. So far everyone has been very friendly to me and seem very competent in their jobs.
I even got to ride in a small five-seater prop plane to visit a potential vendor!
I kind of want a plane like that for myself now. Hey, I took ground school when I was 14. =)

looking good!
